Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Statler, 66, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, at her home.

She was born Jan. 24, 1933, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Henry William and Emma Lydia Neumeyer Sander. She and Jerry Dee Statler were married Sept. 4, 1953, at Cape Girardeau.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau and a member and past state office holder in The Church Women United. In 1998, she received the Valiant Woman award from the CWU. She was a member of United Methodist Women and a past member of the Eastern Star.

She and her husband had resided in Cape Girardeau since 1992. She also had resided in Perryville, Caruthersville, Sikeston, Whitewater and Oran, where her husband served as a United Methodist minister.

Survived include her husband; one daughter, Beverly Kay Stewart of Fenton; three sons, Thomas Jerry Statler of Columbia, Mark Bryan Statler of Fredericktown, and Stephen Lloyd Statler of Bethalto, Ill.; three brothers, Vernon Sander of Cape Girardeau, Ivan Sander of Columbia, and Charles Sander of Penfield, N.Y.; and one sister, Martha Frances Sanderson of Cape Girardeau; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 4-8 p.m. Monday. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church. Dr. Larry Gallamore and the Rev. Ann Mowery will officiate, with interment to follow in Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Gordonville.
