DEXTER, Mo. -- Eldon T. Cooper, 84, of Dexter died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at his home.
He was born Jan. 25, 1917, at Zadock, Mo., son of Charlie and Victoria Pope Cooper. He and Georgia Irene Bailey were married Aug. 30, 1940, in Advance, Mo. She preceded him in death June 29, 1984.
Mr. Cooper was owner of Cooper and Son Auto Sales in Dexter. He served as an alderman for the city of Dexter 20 years.
Survivors include a son, Thomas E. Cooper of Dexter; a daughter, Marilyn Brown of Dexter; a brother, Vernon Cooper of Bloomfield, Mo.; three grandchildren, Rhonda Robinson of Parma, Mo., Gregg Gaines of Columbia, S.C., Scott Gaines of Oletha, Kan.; five great-grandchildren, Luke and Jacob Robinson of Parma, Amanda Gaines of Greenville, S.C., Melissa Gaines of Sikeston, Mo., Conner Gaines of Oletha; a great-great-grandchild, Kailey Gaines-Rozier of Greenville; and a special friend, Retha Meroney of Dexter.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Vader, Floyd and Norman Cooper; and four sisters, Elva Mann, Myrtse Carney, Geneva Cooper and Erma Hester.
Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rainey Chapel. The Rev. Gary Cooper, a nephew, and the Rev. Kenneth Biggs will officiate. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
