NEW MADRID -- Elder James Louis Parker, 48, of New Madrid died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Oct. 1, 1951, in Charleston, son of John and Willie Mae Treadwell Parker. He and Mary Sims were married Oct. 27, 1974.

Parker attended Charleston High School. He had been in the ministry more than 25 years and had been pastor of Deliverance Church of God In Christ the past 18 years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Eric and Derrick Parker of New Madrid; his mother of Charleston; two brothers, Michael and Johnny Parker of Charleston; six sisters, Mildred Jackson of Michigan City, Ind., Mae Butler and Thelma Brown of Chicago, Juanita Barner of Bolingbrook, Ill., Carolyn Jenkin of Mt. Prospect, Ill., and Bernita Parker of Charleston.

Friends may call at Prayer of Deliverance Church from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, with a state official of the Church of God In Christ officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at Charleston.

Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home of Howardville is in charge of arrangements.
