JACKSON -- Elder Coda Brown, 89, of Jackson, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born April 18, 1903, near Fredericktown, son of George Washington and Laura Ann Inman Brown. He and June Lane were married Dec. 25, 1924.
Brown was ordained in the 1960s. He farmed 18 years in the Brownwood area, and seven years at Oak Ridge. He was a former Advance School Board member, and member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church at Morehouse.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Russell Brown of Millersville, Cody Brown of Chaffee, Michael Brown of Evansville, Ind., Darrell Brown of Sikeston; five daughters, Imogene Hale and Patsy Harris of Jackson, Shirley Dunivan of Puxico, Mary Marlowe and Peggy Barnett of Coulterville, Ill.; a brother, Ralph Brown of Fredericktown; two sisters, Olga Allen of Dallas, Texas, Elsie Henson of Boulder, Colo.; 25 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, granddaughter and sister.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Chapel. Elder Carroll Gibbons will officiate, with burial in Sebastian Cemetery near Fredericktown.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
