Opal Elaine Winder, 95, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Dec. 1, 1926, in Cape Girardeau to Pearl and Manna P. Windeknecht Kent. She and Willard Winder were married in Cape Girardeau on Jan. 19, 1946. He preceded her in death.
Elaine was a member of Trace Creek Baptist Church in Glen Allen, Missouri.
She worked at the International Shoe factory and did custodial work at Ford and Sons Funeral Home. She also worked at several day care centers in the area.
Survivors include two sons, Richard (Sharon) Winder of Glen Allen and Randy Winder of Arrow Rock, Missouri; three grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Winder of Zalma, Missouri; Tara (Brad) Gipson of Marquand, Missouri; and Rodger (Meriam) Moss of Morris, Tennessee; 12 great-grandchildren, Jessica Winder, Michael Winder Jr., Sawyer Gipson, Corley Gipson, Megan Gipson, Morgan Gipson, Wayne Moss, Amanda Moss, Tony Moss, Jacquline (Robbie) Wount, Jamie Moss and Marcus Bellamy; sister-in-law, June Kent Coffer of Dexter, Missouri; four great-stepgrandchildren, Tyler Scudder, Bryton Jolley, Landon Jolley and Kaylee Jolley; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Bonnie Baker; four brothers, Ersie, Leon, Jerry and P.J. Kent; three sisters, Jean Smith, Nancy Littleton and Blanche Brennecke; three grandchildren, Richard Winder Jr., Jennifer Winder McCormick and Kimberly Moss Bellamy.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Sawyer Gipson and the Rev. Jim Bone officiating. Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or Disabled American Veterans.
