CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Eileen Varble, 93, of Chaffee passed away Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Oct. 9, 1921, at Fisk, Missouri, to Frank and Estell Fowler Neal. She and Murl Melvern Wondel of Arbor were married May 18, 1940. He preceded her in death June 17, 1945, while serving in World War II. She then married Paul Varble on Oct. 1, 1949. He preceded her in death Sept. 3, 1992...

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Eileen Varble, 93, of Chaffee passed away Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 9, 1921, at Fisk, Missouri, to Frank and Estell Fowler Neal. She and Murl Melvern Wondel of Arbor were married May 18, 1940. He preceded her in death June 17, 1945, while serving in World War II. She then married Paul Varble on Oct. 1, 1949. He preceded her in death Sept. 3, 1992.

Eileen was owner and operator of Eileen's Beauty Shop in Chaffee more than 50 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Chaffee, where she was a Sunday school teacher and G.A. leader many years. She also was a member of Chaffee PEO and Ladies VFW Auxiliary Post 3127.

Survivors include two sons, Melvern (Phyllis) Wondel of St. Charles, Missouri, and Mark (C.G.) Varble of Lawrence, Kansas; a daughter, Rebecca (Bill) Hanlon of Chaffee; seven grandchildren, Michael Melvern Wondel, Neal Christopher Wondel, Matthew Anthony Hanlon, Joshua Paul Hanlon, Joran Levi Varble, Brian DeForest and Robert DeForest; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry, Paul and Fred Neal; and a sister, Helen Neal.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Chaffee, with Joshua Boley officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 301 S. Third St., Chaffee, MO 63740.
