Effie Foster

OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Effie M. Foster, 97, of Olive Branch died Monday, June 7, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 24, 1907, in Alexander County, Ill., daughter of Lewis and Eva Westerman Twente. She and Henry Foster were married in 1925. He died in 1978.

Foster was the oldest charter member of Trinity Assembly of God Church, served as secretary and treasurer, and taught Sunday school many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Minnie McCoy and Edith Miller of Olive Branch; three sons, Allen and Harold Foster of Olive Branch, John Foster of Jackson, Mo.; two brothers, Lloyd Twente of Tamms, Ill., Ernest Twente of Lakeland, Fla.; 29 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, a grandchild, four great-grandchildren, and seven brothers and sisters.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and after 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Assembly of God Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Revs. Mark Thrasher and Carl Miller officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
