EFFIE E. GARNER

SIKESTON -- Effie E. Garner, 97 years old, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 1990, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born July 11, 1893 in Gatewood, daughter of Henry Columbus and Laura Ann Pender McArthur.

She was a housewife and homemaker, and a member of the Baptist faith.

On April 3, 1910 in Gatewood, she married Wiley Huston Garner. He preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1962.

Surviving are three sons, W.A. (Russ) Garner, Carroll Garner and Loman Garner, all of Sikeston; three daughters, Leo Lasater, of Dexter, Opal Harlan, St. Louis, and Nola Pattengill, of Florissant; one sister, Ila Reed, Advance; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

One son, Hanford Garner, a brother, one sister and two grandchildren preceded her in death.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Doyle Corlew, pastor of the Olive Branch General Baptist Church in Essex, officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens at Morley.
