Edwin P. Kurre, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born March 9, 1911, at Daisy, son of Ira Otis and Linnie Rose Kayser Kurre. He and Ethel B. Myers were married April 18, 1933. She died Aug. 5, 1999.
Kurre had owned and operated Friedheim Garage and Edwin Kurre Excavating. He was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church, National Holiday Ramblers Association, and was a member and past president of Bootheel Ramblers Association No. 64. He had spent winters in Texas the past 30 years.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Elmer Buchheit of Friedheim; a son-in-law, Kelly Crites of Oak Ridge; two brothers, Fred and Alonzo Kurre of Friedheim; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Brad and Cathey Buchheit of Oak Ridge; and three great-grandchildren, Amanda, Stefanie and Zachary Buchheit of Oak Ridge.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Crites; three brothers, Lester, Phillip and Milton; and three sisters, Ruth, Mae and Mattie.
Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today, and Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Adam Mueller will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Salem Church Building Fund.
