Edwin C. Kuntz, 86, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, April 7, 1996, at his home. He was born Aug. 7, 1909, in St. Louis, son of Edwin C. and Marie O'Donnell Kuntz. He and Virginia F. McCann were married in 1933. She died in 1988. Kuntz was owner and president of Smith Brennan-Wabash Piling Co. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1990 and was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church...

Edwin C. Kuntz, 86, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, April 7, 1996, at his home.

He was born Aug. 7, 1909, in St. Louis, son of Edwin C. and Marie O'Donnell Kuntz. He and Virginia F. McCann were married in 1933. She died in 1988.

Kuntz was owner and president of Smith Brennan-Wabash Piling Co. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1990 and was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church.

He was a major in the Army Transportation Corps during World War II.

Survivors include three sons, Edwin Kuntz of Cape Girardeau, James Kuntz of Warrenton, Donn Kuntz of St. Charles; a brother, Donn Kuntz of Pasadena, Calif., and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Friends may call at Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gary Vollmer officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Cemetery in O'Fallon.

Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.
