Funeral for Edward Charles Wallgren of Cape Girardeau will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Andrew Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jeffrey Sippy will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Wallgren, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born July 28, 1913, in Allen County, Kan., son of Charles Edward and Elsie Johanna Johnson Wallgren. He and Sophia R. Reezoff were married Jan. 24, 1943, in St. Louis.
Wallgren worked at Pan Dandy Bakery Co. in Flat River from 1945-65. He later was a bus driver and custodian at St. Francois County R-3 Schools in Esther, retiring in 1977.
He moved to Cape Girardeau in November 1994 from Farmington. He was a member of St. Andrew Church and its Elderberries group. He was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Flat River, and held various offices.
Wallgren served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Tom Wallgren of Jackson, Edward Wallgren Jr. of San Francisco, Calif., John Wilkerson of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Thelma Cady of Moran, Kan.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six sisters.
