CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Edward "Eddie" Schetter, 81, of Chaffee died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born June 10, 1926, at New Hamburg, Mo., son of Otto Charles and Mamie Katie Westrich Schetter. He and Wilhelmina "Willie" Kluesner were married July 1, 1950.
Schetter was a self-employed skilled carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Osaka, Japan, where he received the Victory medal and the Army of Occupation medal. Schetter was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, where he was also a member of the St. Ambrose Men's Club. He was a lifetime member of Chaffee VFW Post 3127.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Mitchell (Kathy) Schetter of Sikeston, Mo.; three daughters, Pat (Joe) Alsdorf of Freidheim, Mo., Gail (Mike) Buzzotta of Chesterfield, Mo., and Jill (Eric) Glastetter of Chaffee; three brothers, Ervin "Webb" Scheeter of Benton, Mo., Herbert Scheeter of Cape Girardeau and Alvin Scheeter of Danville, Ill.; four sisters, Arabella Stike and Lois Eastwood, both of Chaffee, Orilla Pobst of Oran, Mo., and Ada Lee Hasenkamp of Benton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Shaun Alsdorf, Jamie Alsdorf, Melissa Windram, Teresa Buzzotta, Angela Buzzotta, Lisa Buzzotta, Ashley Schetter, Andi Schetter, Abigail Glastetter and Cole Glastetter; seven great-grandchildren, Cooper Alsdorf, Lexi Alsdorf, Tyler Alsdorf, Camryn Alsdorf, Liam Windram, Maya Windram and Charlie Buzzotta-Cosatt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, with parish prayers at 7 p.m.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating. The Chaffee VFW will have military rites at the cemetery.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee is in charge of the arrangements.
