Edward John Radetic, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born Jan. 29, 1929, in St. Louis, son of Joseph and Sophia Jovanovic Radetic. He and Betty J. Merkle were married June 4, 1949.
Radetic had been a supervisor for A&P Tea Co. 30 years, and worked in the restaurant business until his retirement.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus in St. Louis, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and former member of Kiwanis Club in Cape Girardeau.
He was a master sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Edward P. (Kelly-Ann) Radetic of Cape Girardeau, Thomas G. Radetic of Jackson, Joseph J. (Dana) Radetic of Wildwood, Mo.; three daughters, Jane A. Radetic, Cathy J. (Floyd) Yarbro of Cape Girardeau, and Judith M. Radetic of St. Louis. He had 12 grandchildren, Derek J. and Sara J. Yarbro, Katie J. Radetic of Cape Girardeau, Jordan S. Radetic of Jackson, Cecilia A., Alex D., Eddie J., Sophia M. and Sam P. Radetic of Cape Girardeau, John E. "Jack" and Luke J. Radetic of St. Louis, and Abigail J. Radetic of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clarence; and a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Radetic.
Friends may call at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church from 4 to 7 p.m. today.
The funeral Mass will be at 7 tonight, with the Rev. Derek Swanson officiating.
Friends may also call Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Home, 7027 Gravois in St. Louis.
A committal service will be held at 11:15 a.m. Saturday at Resurrection Cemetery in St. Louis, with military rites by Missouri Honors Team.
Pallbearers will be Glen Dirnberger, Floyd Yarbro, Derek Yarbro, Don Schuchardt, Jim Giegling and Burl Medlock.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Missouri Veterans Home or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
