SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Edward Joseph Martin, 89, of Scott City, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at his daughter's home in Indiana.
Born Jan. 31, 1912, in Kelso, Mo., he was the son of Albin and Ortha Blattel Martin.
On Oct. 14, 1933, he was married to Ellen Virginia Smith. She died, Oct. 3, 1993.
Martin was a farmer and a retired fireman for the Cotton Belt Railroad.
Survivors include two sons, Irvin Martin of Illiopolis, Ill., Gene Martin of Scott City; two daughters, Pearl Gowins of Portland, Ind., Shirley Beggs of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Arnold Martin of St. Louis; two sisters, Hermina Halter of Manchester, Mo., Irene Glastetter of Lake Charles, La.; 11 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; nine great-stepgrandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a great-great-stepgrandchild.
In addition to his wife and parents, Martin was preceded in death by a brother, a sister, four grandchildren, a stepgrandchild and a great-stepgrandchild.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Rennie Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Lightner Memorial Cemetery in Scott City.
