JONESBORO, Ill. -- Edward John Dahmer, 80, of Jonesboro died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at his home. He was born Oct. 12, 1919, in Williamson County, son of August and Emma Soldner Dahmer. He married Virginia Hoffard. She died March 9, 1991. He and Berneice E. Ice Young were married March 23, 1992...

JONESBORO, Ill. -- Edward John Dahmer, 80, of Jonesboro died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at his home.

He was born Oct. 12, 1919, in Williamson County, son of August and Emma Soldner Dahmer.

He married Virginia Hoffard. She died March 9, 1991. He and Berneice E. Ice Young were married March 23, 1992.

Dahmer was a member of the Scottish Rite of Belleville, the Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis and the Lake Creek Masonic Lodge 792 at Johnson City for more than 50 years. He was an honorary member of the Jonesboro, Anna and Cobden Masonic Lodges.

Survivors include his wife Berneice of Jonesboro; two sons, Gary Dahmer of Jonesboro and Hiram Dahmer of Jackson, Miss.; two daughters, Deana Shaw and Jane Smith of Johnston City; a brother, Joe Dahmer of Marion; a sister, Marie Garavalia of Johnston City; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a stepson.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Big Creek Cemetery south of Anna, with the Rev. James Hardway officiating.

Hileman and Parr Funeral Services at Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.
