Edward Hill Sr.

McCLURE, Ill. -- Edward Miles Hill Sr., 69, of McClure died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 28, 1940, in Cape Girardeau to Thomas Chapman and Gladys Beatrice Burris Hill.

Hill graduated from Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake, Ill. On April 14, 1990, he was married to Ginger K. Joy. She survives him.

Hill was the owner and operator of XL-ITE light services from 1989 till 2006 and also Hills County Kitchen in McClure for more than seven years. He was employed by Sears in Cape Girardeau for 11 years before retiring and was a member of the Cape Girardeau County Cowboy Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ginger, of McClure; two sons, Edward M.(Malinda) Hill Jr. and Christopher L. (LeAnn) Hill, both of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, Pamela (Rick) Roberts and Tracy (Ethan) Hill, both of McClure, Lisa Smith of Jackson, Larenda (Eddy) Davis of Jacksonville, Ala.; one sister, Vivan (Tom) Butenhoff of Germantown, Wis.; one sister-in-law, Jeanne Hill of McClure; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and a sister-in-law, J.T. Hill and Billy and Lois LaBruyere; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Jim Matthews and Donnie Ford officiating.

Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery at McClure.
