SIKESTON, Mo. -- Edward M. Hardin, 90, formerly of Cullman, Ala., passed away Friday, July 30, 2010, at Heritage Gardens Nursing Home in Sikeston, Mo. He was born Feb. 14, 1920, in Youngstown, Ohio, to John and Elsie Ferguson Hardin. He and Alta Lee Skanes were married Nov. 17, 1939. She passed away Jan. 30, 2003...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Edward M. Hardin, 90, formerly of Cullman, Ala., passed away Friday, July 30, 2010, at Heritage Gardens Nursing Home in Sikeston, Mo.

He was born Feb. 14, 1920, in Youngstown, Ohio, to John and Elsie Ferguson Hardin. He and Alta Lee Skanes were married Nov. 17, 1939. She passed away Jan. 30, 2003.

Ed was a safety engineer many years for Bethlehem Steel of Pittsburgh. He primarily worked in bridge construction.

He attended St. John's Community Church in Cullman.

Five years ago, Ed proved what a character he was when, on his 85th birthday, he parachuted from an airplane in Cullman.

He is survived by dear friends Glenda Crosno and Tim Crosno of Cape Girardeau, Amanda Crosno of Parma, Mo., and Julie Stanfield of Chicago.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date at White Chapel Cemetery in Barboursville, W.Va. Memorials may take the form of contributions to Teen Challenge in Cape Girardeau.
