Edward Garner, 77, Anna Route 1, died Sunday, July 3, 1994, at Union County Hospital in Anna.
He was born Sept. 4, 1916, in Cobden, son of William L. and Lona Nicholson Garner. He and Helen E. Hatley were married Oct. 9, 1937, in Union County.
Garner was a retired patrolman with Central Illinois Public Service Co. He was a member and past commander of Townsend F. Dodd American Legion Post 344 in Anna, member of IBEW Local 702 in West Frankfort, and attended Walnut Grove Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Bill Garner of Lady Lake, Fla., Ronald and John Garner of Anna, Mike Garner of Van Nuys, Calif., Bruce Garner of Kimberling City; two sisters, Vivian and Ruby Yates of Cobden; two brothers, Milo Garner of Cahokia, Carl Garner of Anna; 12 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brent Gordon officiating. Burial will be in Casper Cemetery, with military graveside rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna.
