Edward Bierschwal

Edward F. Bierschwal, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at his home.

He was born April 21, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, son of Louis F. and Anna Hargens Bierschwal. He and Wanda Moore were married Nov. 10, 1946.

Mr. Bierschwal was a 1943 graduate of Central High School. He owned Bierschwal Meat Market on Good Hope Street many years, and the Stop and Go B.B.Q. on Good Hope and Broadway until they closed in 1971. He worked at Food Giant after retiring. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

He did stained glass work for friends as a hobby, and also did a lot of stained glass work for his church.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Roger Bierschwal of Lake St. Louis, Mo., Gary and Becky Bierschwal of Kansas City, Mo., Scott Bierschwal of Cape Girardeau; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Carrol Statler of Kempton, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Ruth Bierschwal of Cape Girardeau; two granddaughters, Katie and Maggie Bierschwal of Kansas City; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bernie Bierschwal; and a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Sonny Grojean.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Scott Moon and Jerry Statler officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum, with military rites by VFW Post 3838.
