CHARLESTON -- Edsel Vied, 66, of Charleston, died Thursday, Feb. 29, 1996, at his home. He was born Oct. 4, 1929, in Mississippi County, Ark., son of Martin and Thelma Howell Vied. He and Freda Louise Coon were married July 5, 1951. Vied had lived in Mississippi County, Mo., most of his life. He worked 41 years at Martin Marietta Energy Systems in Paducah, Ky., retiring in December 1993. He was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army...

CHARLESTON -- Edsel Vied, 66, of Charleston, died Thursday, Feb. 29, 1996, at his home.

He was born Oct. 4, 1929, in Mississippi County, Ark., son of Martin and Thelma Howell Vied. He and Freda Louise Coon were married July 5, 1951.

Vied had lived in Mississippi County, Mo., most of his life. He worked 41 years at Martin Marietta Energy Systems in Paducah, Ky., retiring in December 1993. He was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Martin Vied of Charleston, Philip Vied of Dudley; three daughters, Mary Moxley of Garland, Texas, Nancy Bond and Alice Carr of Casper, Wyo.; his mother of Wyatt; two brothers, Lawrence Vied of Phoenix, Ariz., Dennis Vied of Livermore, Calif.; a sister, Jane Gibson of Granite City, Ill.; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren, and three great-stepgrandchildren.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. Sunday. A prayer service will be held at 7.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Henry's Church, with the Rev. David Coon officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
