TAMMS, Ill. -- Funeral for Edna M. Mowery of Tallassee, Ala., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Crossroad United Methodist Church in Ullin. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin from 6-8 p.m. today.
Mowery, 87, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at Community Hospital in Tallassee.
She was born May 31, 1912, in Schenectady, N.Y., daughter of William Weston and Lilly Woodring Brown. She and Oris W. Mowery were married Oct. 6, 1936. He died Sept. 22, 1998.
Mowery helped her husband on their dairy farm, had been a cadet in the Salvation Army, and was a foster parent to at least 20 children. She was a member of Crossroad United Methodist Church. She was formerly of Tamms.
Survivors include two sons, Don Mowery of North Port, Fla., Edward Mowery of Tallassee; three foster daughters, Dollie Osman of Bloomington, Ind., Pam Wilemon of Fulton, Miss., Patty Vaughn of Amory, Miss.; a foster son, Albert Valentine of Hattiesburg, Miss.; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
