VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Edna Ruth Ablett Moore, 90, of Ullin, Ill., formerly of Grand Chain, Ill., died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, Ill.
She was born Jan. 27, 1911, at Grand Chain, daughter of James Wesley Ablett and Edna Anna Presgrove Ablett.
Moore taught schools for 30 years in Pulaski County schools. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Karnak, Ill., and attended the First Christian Church at Grand Chain. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 710, Grand Chain and served as a Pulaski County Republican chairman several years. She was a charter member of the Mother's Club of Grand Chain. She received the Jefferson Award in Paducah, Ky., in April 1990.
She lived in Grand Chain until two years ago, when she became a resident at Cache Valley Retirement Apartments in Ullin.
She and Willard A. "Dutch" Moore were married Feb. 28, 1931. He died May 10, 1997.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Moore of Metropolis, Ill; a daughter, Jeanette L. Jones, of Pulaski, Ill.; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons; three stepgrandsons; and four great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sister and two brothers.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Ill., with the Rev. Joey Dunning officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery at Grand Chain.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to the funeral hour Monday at the funeral home.
