DEXTER, Mo. — Edna Ilene Jackson, 92, of Dexter passed away Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 31, 1924, near Gipsy, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Thomas and Cecile Della McDaniel Young. Edna and Avery Andrew Jackson were united in marriage Dec. 24, 1940, and he preceded her in death Nov. 11, 1993.
Edna had been a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Her favorite things were watching her birds at bird feeders and her pretty flowers. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and never missed a game. The light of her life were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-granddaughter. She was loved by all who met her and will be so greatly missed.
Survivors include two sons, Avery Eugene (Phyllis) Jackson of South Roxana, Illinois, and Tom Jackson of Advance, Missouri; a daughter, Della Hart of Dexter; two sisters, Mildred Whilhite of Chaffee, Missouri, and Wilma (Jim) Hinkle of Greenville, Tennessee; grandchildren Tina (Delbert) Weakley of Marble Hill, Missouri, Rick (Wendy) Jackson of South Roxana, Justin and Jason Jackson of Patton, Missouri, and Jessica (Clay) Brown of Patton; great-grandchildren Luke (Ashley Green) Livingston of Bell City, Missouri, Josh Jackson of South Roxana, Dalton and Dylan Brown of Patton, Bethany Scherer of Marble Hill and Lisa and Diane Jackson of Phoenix; and a great-great-granddaughter, Aubree Livingston of Bell City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Cleo Haddock and Rachel Aaron; and two brothers, Rudolph and Orville Young.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel. The Rev. Rudy Pittman and the Rev. LeeRoy Hefner will officiate. Burial will be at Berrong Cemetery near Gipsy.
