JACKSON -- Edna F. Hopkins, 100, died Friday, Dec. 1, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born May 10, 1895, near Sedgewickville to Francis M. and Melvina Crites Hahs. She married Ora Hopkins Nov. 22, 1922. He died Nov. 28, 1982...

JACKSON -- Edna F. Hopkins, 100, died Friday, Dec. 1, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 10, 1895, near Sedgewickville to Francis M. and Melvina Crites Hahs.

She married Ora Hopkins Nov. 22, 1922. He died Nov. 28, 1982.

Hopkins moved to Jackson in 1947 from the family farm northwest of town. She worked at the Coney Island Restaurant in Jackson and was a long-standing member of the New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson.

She was a charter member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Roberts Homemakers Club, World War I Auxiliary and Jackson Senior Center and volunteered at the Jackson Nutrition Center.

Hopkins recently received an award for being the oldest walker representing Meals On Wheels at a walk-a-thon.

Survivors are a son, John Hopkins of Cape Girardeau; a grandson, Matthew Hopkins of Cape Girardeau and a great-grandson, Justine Hopkins of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home today from 4-8 p.m.

Funeral service will be at the funeral home Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. O. David Griffin and the Rev. Don Covington officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
