CHAFFEE -- Edith Mable Newberry, 80, of Chaffee, died Wednesday, April 17, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. CHAFFEE -- Edith Mable Newberry, 80, of Chaffee, died Wednesday, April 17, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 28, 1915, in Independence County, Ark., daughter of Ernest Edward and Bertie Irene Scoggins Hunter. She and Ernest T. Newberry were married Oct. 2, 1937, at Portageville.

Newberry had been a dietitian at Garden Park Hospital in Anaheim, Calif. She moved here in 1975 from California, and attended Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Gerald Newberry of Sturgis, Mich., Joseph Newberry of Torrance, Calif., Paul Newberry of Randles; a daughter, Norma Martin of Batesville, Ark.; two brothers, Floyd Hunter of Wynne, Ark., Ray Hunter of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Doris Kunkel of Anaheim, Elsie McFarland of Cerritos, Calif., and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three daughters, two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee from 5-7 p.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Church, with the Rev. R.L. Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery.
