DEXTER -- Edith King, 78, of Essex died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born April 3, 1921, at Campbell, daughter of Herbert and Bessie Hardy Byrd.
She and Orville King were married at St. Louis in July of 1955.
She was a retired seamstress for International Hat Factory and a member of the Olive Branch General Baptist Church in Essex.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Myrna Jones of Paragould, Ark.; a sister, Wanda Hackworth of Piedmont; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and six brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today. Funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel, with the Revs. Dale McFarland and Doyle Corlew officiating. Interment will be in Essex Cemetery.
