Edith Cobden Hecht, 89, of New Orleans, La., died Wednesday, July 31, 1991, in a New Orleans hospital.
She was born Dec. 23, 1911, in Wichita, Kan. She married Irving Hecht, who died July 14, 1982.
Hecht moved to Cape Girardeau in 1935 from Wichita, and was a lab technician at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She and Georgia Tenkhoff opened the Main Street Store Feb. 12, 1965. Her husband operated Irvin's Men's Store on Main Street many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Madilyn Samuels of New Orleans; three grandsons; a great-grandson; two nephews, Marty Hecht of Cape Girardeau, Ambassador Chic Hecht of Nassau, Bahamas, and a niece, Cecelia Appelbaum of LaJolla, Calif.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Berger Memorial Chapel in St. Louis. Rabbi Cytron will officiate, with burial in Chesev Shel Emeth Cemetery in St. Louis.
