Edith Wren Habbersett, 96, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, at Ratliff Care Center.
She was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Tyler, Texas, the daughter of Henry C. and Georgie Hemby Trimble.
Edith married H.S. Wren in June of 1940. They made their first home in Palestine, Texas, and then moved to St. Louis in 1959. Upon retirement, they moved to Vero Beach, Florida. H.S. went to his heavenly home in 1990.
In 1995, Edith married William Habbersett. He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 2008. Poor health caused her to move to Cape Girardeau to be near family. Her home quickly became Ratliff Care Center where she received the best of care.
She is survived by a son, Cary C. Wren of St. Louis and a daughter, Cynthia "Candy" (David) Hahs of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Jeff Wren of St. Louis and his son, Nathan, Christy (Jim) Mares of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, and their daughter, Jessica, Brandon (Marilyn) Hahs of Cypress, Texas, and their children, Andrew, Luke and Natalie, and Clayton (Miste) Hahs of Cape Girardeau and their children, Samuel and Ella.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Vero Beach, Florida, where she lived for 34 years following retirement.
Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, 1750 20th St., Vero Beach, FL or St. Andrew Lutheran Church of Cape Girardeau.
