BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Funeral for Edith Hester Gibbs of Bloomfield was held Saturday at Boone Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Ind. The Rev. Franklin Dumond officiated. Burial was in Bethsaida Cemetery in Stewartsville, Ind.
Watkins and Sons Funeral Home at Dexter was in charge of local arrangements.
Gibbs, 94, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.
She was born Dec. 12, 1905, at Commerce, daughter of Henry and Myrtle Montgomery Robb. She first married John Hester, who preceded her in death. She later married Edgar Gibbs, who also preceded her in death.
While living in Mt. Vernon she worked at Hester's Grocery and was superintendent of Posey County Home. She was a member of Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Wilda Cook of El Paso, Texas; three stepsons, Dale Gibbs of Oxly, Roger Gibbs of Bloomfield, Wayne Gibbs of Van Buren; a sister, Margaret Snyder of Mt. Vernon; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
