BERNIE -- Edith Cherry, 80, of Orange, Calif., died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at Auburn Garden Hospital in Auburn, Calif.
She was born Oct. 13, 1918, in Stoddard County, daughter of Marshall Jackson and Lestie Nance McGowen.
Cherry was active with the Salvation Army in Orange.
Survivors include a daughter, Vivian Nelson of Marysville, Calif.; a son, the Rev. Ray Dowdy of Auburn; a brother, Jackson McGowen of Flint, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son.
Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hobbs Chapel Church near Puxico. The Rev. Ray Dowdy will officiate. Burial will be in the chapel cemetery.
