SIKESTON -- Edith Ayers Calhoun, 79, of Chesterfield, formerly of Sikeston, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1992 at Delmar Garden Nursing Home in Chesterfield.

She was born Dec. 11, 1912 in New Madrid County, daughter of T.W. and Susie Morrow Ayers.

She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Sikeston.

On July 28, 1931, she married Charles "Buck" Calhoun. He preceded her in death Feb. 21, 1980.

She is survived by two sons, Travis Calhoun, Wentzville, Troy Calhoun, Souix City, Iowa; three daughters, Lawanda Compton, Webster Groves, Sue Marler, Shawnee, Kansas, Charlotte Pearson, Springfield, Mo.; three brothers, Royce Ayers and Thomas Ayers, both of Sikeston, Glen Ayers, Dexter; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Two 2 brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Friends may call today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. Ted Wimberly, pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
