CHAFFEE -- Edith L. Arteme, 94, of Chaffee died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at home.
She was born June 23, 1905, in Risco, Mo., the daughter of William Pryor and Birdie Lett. She and Thomas K. Arteme were married Nov. 17, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1972. Also preceding her in death were her daughter, Vadah Prindel Hamby, and a sister, Juanita Puckett.
She is survived by one son, James G. Arteme of Benton, Mo.; one grandson, Thomas J. Arteme of Highland, Ill.; and one granddaughter, Amy R. Arteme of Benton, Mo.; two sisters, Francis Hickox of Las Vegas, Nev., and Dixie Gerwitz of St. Louis, Mo.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Chaffee, VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Chaffee, Mo., and Eastern Star. She graduated form Chaffee High School in 1925. She was a homemaker living in the St. Louis area and Detroit, Mich. She returned to Chaffee, Mo., in 1963 for retirement. She enjoyed writing poetry and had several poems published.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee, Mo., from 4:30-8 p.m. today. Service will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, with the Rev. Nancy Woods officiating.
Interment will be at Union Park in Chaffee.
