Edgar Lee Woodard, 92, passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau with his family by his side.
He was born April 18, 1923, to Joe and Addie Britt Woodard in Crosnoe, Missouri.
He and Helen Ishmael were married May 25, 1942, in Jackson. Mrs. Woodard died in 1999.
Two boys were born of this union.
He served in the United States Army from May 1944 until May 1946.
He was a member of the Charleston Masonic Lodge No. 407 AF&AM, past master of East Prairie Lodge No. 384 AF&AM and a member of the American Legion Post No. 158 of Jackson.
Mr. Woodard was a retired master carpenter and was a member of the Cape Girardeau Carpenters Union No. 1770 for more than 65 years.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth Douglas (Sharon) Woodard of Cape Girardeau; a daughter-in-law, Mona (David) Goeckel of Silver City, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Lisa (Ben) Woodard/Vance of Los Angeles, Matthew Woodard of Rolla, Missouri, Marc Woodard of Silver City and Maria (Jon) Morrell of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and two brothers, Vernon "Ben" (Claudetta) Woodard of Simi Valley, California, and Otis "Boss" Woodard of East Prairie, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son Edgar Lee "Eagle" Woodard Jr. in 1989; two sisters; and four brothers.
No services were held at Edgar's request.
