SCOTT CITY -- Edgar John Barber, 88, of Harrisburg, Ill., formerly of Scott City and Chaffee, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 1994, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Center in Carrier Mills, Ill.
He was born June 20, 1905, at Blytheville, Ark., son of John E. and Minnie Belle Lawrence Barber.
He married Pearl R. Rhodes, Oct. 7, 1933.
Barber was a retired conductor with the Cotton Belt Railroad company in Scott City.
He was a member of the H.O. Grauel Masonic Lodge 672 AF and AM in Cape Girardeau, and was a member of the United Transportation Union.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Eddie Barber of Harrisburg, Ill.; a daughter, Norma Hensley of Bridgeton, Mo.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, with the Rev. William Dickey officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
