EDDIE CHILDERS

BERTRAND, Mo. -- Eddie Murlin Childers, 70, of Bertrand died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.

He was born Nov. 22, 1930, at Wolf Island, Mo., son of Con and Esta Tripp Childers.

Childers lived in Mississippi County most of his life and was a truck driver. He was formerly of East Prairie, Mo.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include three sons, Mike Childers of Delta, Mo., Ricky Childers of Sikeston, Mo., Kenny Childers of Lebanon, Mo.; a daughter, Pam Treece of Sikeston; two brothers, Robert Childers of Sikeston, Earl Childers of East Prairie; three sisters, Imogene Mayabb and Annie Davis of East Prairie, Dorothy Brown of Newport, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a grandson.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Matthews will officiate.

Shelby Funeral Home at East Prairie is in charge of arrangements.
