SIKESTON, Mo. -- Thomas Edd Massey, 87, of Sikeston died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at Miner Nursing Center. He was born Nov. 9, 1916, in Ayers, Miss., son of Phillip Turner and Solna Bell Garner Massey. He and Bertie Mae Carter were married Sept. 12, 1936, in Cardwell, Mo. She died June 30, 1995...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Thomas Edd Massey, 87, of Sikeston died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at Miner Nursing Center.

He was born Nov. 9, 1916, in Ayers, Miss., son of Phillip Turner and Solna Bell Garner Massey. He and Bertie Mae Carter were married Sept. 12, 1936, in Cardwell, Mo. She died June 30, 1995.

Massey had been a self-employed farmer and a mechanic at Malone and Hyde. He was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Billy and Silas Massey of Marble Hill, Mo., Eddie Massey of Sikeston, Jimmy Massey of Mountain Home, Ark.; a daughter, Dorothy Stroud of Wappapello, Mo.; a brother, Sam Massey of Arbyrd, Mo.; a sister, Coyeta Angotti of Piedmont, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, five brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church after noon today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the church, with Jerry Adams officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
