MORLEY, Mo. -- Henry Edwin Ulmer, 57, of Morley died Monday, May 18, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 10, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, son of J.E. and Cona Casey Ulmer. He and Kathy Viola Slipis were married Aug. 1, 1971, in Morley.

Ulmer was a police officer in Morley, Oran and Miner, Mo., a deputy sheriff in Scott County and a Scott County 911 dispatcher. Ulmer was involved in the community as the former president of Morley Jaycees, former city council member in Morley, former Scott County rural fire chief, sheriff's reserves, and a member of Morley Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randy (Melissa) Ulmer and Nick Ulmer, both of Morley; three brothers, Charles Ulmer of Sikeston, Mo., Sterl Kline of Benton, Mo., Larry Ulmer of Troy, Tenn.; a half brother, Peter Ulmer of Scott City; three sisters, Charlene Blackwelder of Morley, Paulette Cranick of Fulton, Tenn., Jeanie Price of Sikeston; and two grandchildren, Brittney and Austin Ulmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 5:30 to 7 p.m. May 26 at Morley Church of Christ.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. May 26 at the church, with the Rev. Chad Bles officiating.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton is in charge of arrangements.
