SIKESTON, Mo. -- Edgar R. "Ed" Ring, 82, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Sikeston, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson. SIKESTON, Mo. -- Edgar R. "Ed" Ring, 82, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Sikeston, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson.

He was born Dec. 18, 1921, in Franklin, Ark., son of Earl Melvin and Nora Anderson Ring. He and Eloise Gilliland were married Feb. 14, 1942, in Charleston, Mo.

Ring owned and operated Bootheel Dairy. He was a member of North Acres General Baptist Church in Sikeston and served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent 15 years. He had been a member of Sikeston Rotary Club.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Pam Shell of Tucson; a sister, Virginia Hensler of Schwartz Creek, Mich.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Revs. Norman Elledge and Ernest Elledge officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
