ORAN, Mo. -- Edward "Ed" Evans, 61, of Oran passed away Sunday, Feb 4, 2018, at his home. He was born March 13, 1956, in Chaffee, Missouri, to the late Ralph and Geraldine Fowler Evans. Ed was a truck driver for his brother Ben until 1993. He loved those big trucks. He went to work for the Scott County Highway Department in Benton, Missouri, Oct. 1, 1994, until he retired May 31, 2016...

ORAN, Mo. -- Edward "Ed" Evans, 61, of Oran passed away Sunday, Feb 4, 2018, at his home.

He was born March 13, 1956, in Chaffee, Missouri, to the late Ralph and Geraldine Fowler Evans.

Ed was a truck driver for his brother Ben until 1993. He loved those big trucks. He went to work for the Scott County Highway Department in Benton, Missouri, Oct. 1, 1994, until he retired May 31, 2016.

He was a member of the Oran Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Fire Board. Ed was most proud of the Oran car show, which he was in charge of for 22 years. It was a very successful show every year. When he was younger, he drag raced at the Sikeston Race Track. He loved children and played Santa for the local children and families. He was an animal lover. He left two cats and a stray that he was feeding. Ed was just a big kid at heart, and he left behind a loving family and many friends who will miss him.

He is survived by a brother, Don (Irene) Evans of Oran; a sister, Linda (Spencer) Taylor of Benton; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.

He also was preceded in death by a brother, Ben Evans.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel with Bill Bradley officiating. Burial will be at New Morley Cemetery in Morley, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Roger Graviett, Jimmy Markland, Joel Boon, Sam Unger, Devon Prindle, Ethan Evans, Lloyd Freeman and Scott Hanks.
