ZALMA -- Earnest B. Cochran, 77, of Zalma died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997, at his home. He was born Oct. 10, 1919, in London, Ark., son of John Thomas and Lou Freeman Cochran. He and Mattie Crowden were married Feb. 16, 1938, in London, Ark. Cochran was a retired timber worker. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II...

ZALMA -- Earnest B. Cochran, 77, of Zalma died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997, at his home.

He was born Oct. 10, 1919, in London, Ark., son of John Thomas and Lou Freeman Cochran. He and Mattie Crowden were married Feb. 16, 1938, in London, Ark.

Cochran was a retired timber worker. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Genia Sullinger of Doniphan; two brothers, Early Cochran of Rives Junction, Mich., Jack Cochran of Dexter; three sisters, Maggie Dodd of Chaffee, Ruby Crowden of Sikeston, Rosie Crowden of Eureka; a granddaughter; and four great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance from 5:30-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Wayne Page and Ken Crowden officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery near Advance.
