WHITEWATER -- Earley Hugh Proffer, 87, of Whitewater died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 29, 1912, at Crump, son of Grover and Myrtle Jones Proffer. He and Marcella L. Penrod were married Oct. 20, 1948. She died Dec. 11, 1999.
Proffer was a retired carpenter. He was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include a stepbrother, Glen Jones of Whitewater; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, a brother, a sister, and a stepbrother.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Lee Whitman officiating. Burial will be in Proffer Cemetery at Crump.
