Earlene Doris Langston, 82, of Jackson passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021, at the Villas of Jackson, where she received excellent care the past 10 months.

She was born June 9, 1938, in Daisy to Ova and Nellie Hobeck Stearns. She and Clarence Langston were married Dec. 22, 1958, in Jackson. They had been married 27 years, when Clarence passed away April 12, 1986.

Earlene was a 1957 graduate of Jackson High School. She was a devoted mother who was involved in many of her daughters' activities as they were growing up. She was a Girl Scout leader and softball coach for many years and enjoyed attending her girls' events. She was always there for her girls, and she was their best supporter and cheerleader. She continued the tradition with her grandchildren, attending their events and just spending time with them. In short, family was her key to happiness!

Earlene was a faithful member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson and the quilting group. Earlene was an avid bridge player, often playing cards at the Jackson Senior Center with her friends, Ivern Glass, Nell Langford and Joyce Brown.

Loving survivors include three daughters, Cindy (James) Goodpasture, Becky (Steve) Wachter and Kristie (Todd) Rayburn, all of Jackson; grandchildren, Jamie (Zach) Brazer, Cody (Tyler) Zimmerman, Landon (Travis) Jones, Paden (Brannon) Wright, Luke (Cailin) Rayburn and Levi Rayburn; 10 great-grandchildren, Bryn, Bella, Landry, Blake, Braddeck, Judah, Noah Grace, Eli, Bennett and Collins; five siblings, Carmen "Peg" (Charles) Newell and Linda (Jerry) Morton of Jackson; Richard (Brenda) Stearns of Lonedell, Missouri; Mary (the late Bud) James of Patton, Missouri; and Patsy Wendel of Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Minnie (the late Virgil) Stearns and Georgia (the late Robert) Stearns of Jackson; and her extended family at the Villas of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Virgil, Fred (Rosemary) and Robert "Bob" Stearns; and a sister, Sue Clippard.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Chis Collier will officiate the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Jackson Senior Center.
