Earlene Curry

A lifelong resident of Delta, Helen Earlene Curry, 76, was united with her Lord Jesus Christ Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Jan. 13, 1930, to Remus Benson and Ruby Pearl Hodge Medlock.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis Curry and four brothers.

She is survived by a brother, Burl Medlock of Gordonville; three daughters, Diann Newell of Cape Girardeau, Vicki Smith of California, Mo., Sandra Curry of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; a son, Kevin Curry of Kelso, Mo.; six granddaughters; four grandsons; and a great-grandson.

Earlene was a hairdresser in Delta 47 years, and was employed at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Mo., the past 17 years where she was also a hairdresser. She was a Southeast Hospital volunteer and provided hair care for patients.

She was a lifelong member of Delta First Baptist Church, where she taught children's Sunday school nearly 60 years. She was a choir member and served on many church committees. She will be remembered by friends and family and has touched many lives through her Christian faith.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today at Delta First Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Eric Hodge officiating. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Chaffee is in charge of arrangements.
