CARBONDALE, Ill -- Earl Wayne "Red" Lipe, 72, of Carbondale, Ill., died Tuesday, March 18, 1997, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
He was born Sept. 9, 1924 in Pomona, Ill., the son of Rudolph and Kate Nance Lipe. He married Margaret Ruth Gee on April 8, 1947 in Carbondale and she survives him.
He was a former bus driver and custodian for the Pomona, Alto Pass, Ill., and Cobden, Ill., school districts. He was a member of the Dutch Ridge Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Jean King of Carbondale and Linda Waller of Anna, Ill.; two brothers, Willard and William Lipe, both of Carbondale; three sisters, Margaret King, Norma Stevens and Barbara Adams, all of Carbondale; two aunts; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna and after noon Thursday at the Dutch Ridge Baptist Church. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Gilbert Gee and Rev. Davy Miller officiating.
