JONESBORO, Ill. -- Earl James Tripp, 90, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at his home. He was born Feb. 25, 1911, in Jonesboro, son of George and Nora Alger Tripp. He and Sarah Hamel were married May 14, 1937, in Jonesboro. JONESBORO, Ill. -- Earl James Tripp, 90, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at his home.

He was born Feb. 25, 1911, in Jonesboro, son of George and Nora Alger Tripp. He and Sarah Hamel were married May 14, 1937, in Jonesboro.

Tripp was employed at Frank Cavaness Sheet Metal Shop, and was part owner of Southern Barbeque in Anna, Ill. He was a member of Gospel Assembly Church in Anna.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jeanette Crowell of Marion, Ill.; two sons, James and Mervyn Tripp of Anna; a sister, Elizabeth Bennett of Chicago; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, three sisters and a brother.

Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today, and Thursday after noon at Gospel Assembly Church.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church, with the Revs. Walter Stevenson and Dennis Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.
