MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Earl Lee "Minnie" Lutes, 74, of Marble Hill died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Aug. 30, 1926, at Glen Allen, Mo., son of Claude L. and Amelia Schwering Lutes. He and Julie Tenholder were married May 4, 1948, at Leopold, Mo...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Earl Lee "Minnie" Lutes, 74, of Marble Hill died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 30, 1926, at Glen Allen, Mo., son of Claude L. and Amelia Schwering Lutes. He and Julie Tenholder were married May 4, 1948, at Leopold, Mo.

Lutes was a retired assistant forester with Missouri Department of Conservation and had farmed. He was a former fire chief for city of Lutesville, was instrumental in organizing Bollinger County Civil Defense, served many years on Lutesville Town Board and served 15 years on the Woodland School Board.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Mike Lutes of Wasilla, Alaska, Ron Lutes of St. Charles, Mo., Gary Lutes of Marble Hill, Gerald Lutes of Jackson, Mo., Tim Lutes of Cape Girardeau, Jeff Lutes of Yorktown, Va., Jamie Lutes of Navarre, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bill Huggins, the Rev. Fred Ritter, and Donald Lax officiating. Burial was in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery.
