MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Earl Lee "Minnie" Lutes, 74, of Marble Hill died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Earl Lee "Minnie" Lutes, 74, of Marble Hill died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Lutes was born Aug. 30, 1926, in Glen Allen, Mo., son of Claude L. and Amelia Schwering Lutes.

He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, a retired assistant forester with the Missouri Department of Conservation, a farmer and a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the American Legion. He was a past fire chief of Lutesville, Mo., and served for many years on the Lutesville Town Board and Woodland School Board.

Survivors include seven sons, Mike Lutes of Wasilla, Alaska., Ron Lutes of St. Charles, Mo., Gary Lutes of Marble Hill, Gerald Lutes of Jackson, Mo., Tim Lutes of Cape Girardeau, Jeff Lutes of Yorktown, Va., and Jamie Lutes of Navarre, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a brother and a sister.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill where there will be Parish prayers at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church, with the Revs. Bill x, Fred Ritter and Donald Lax officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery.
