TAMMS, Ill. -- Earl L. Harp, 84, of Tamms, formerly of Bethalto, Ill., died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 22, 1925, in Mound City, Ill., to Earl L. and Ethel Caywood Harp Sr. He married Louise Warren on Sept. 4, 1959. They have enjoyed 50 years together.
Harp served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was in the heating and air-conditioning business until his retirement in 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Louise, of Tamms; three sons, Greg (Cathi) Harp of Elsah, Ill., John Harp of Olmsted, Ill., Tony Harp of Mound City; a daughter, Debbie Harp of Mound City; several grandchildren; a brother, James (Ruie) Harp of Bethalto; a sister-in-law, Juanita Harp of Cottage Hills, Ind.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ray Harp; an infant daughter, Theresa Harp; four sisters, Bea, Reba, Betty and Sylvia; and three brothers, Paul, Leon and Philip.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at First Assembly of God Church in Wood River, Ill.
The funeral will be at noon Tuesday at the church, with Greg Harp officiating. Interment will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens with military honors by Alton VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team.
Memorials may be made to the March of Dimes and will be accepted at the church.
