Earl Christy

Earl Douglas Christy, 76, of Matthews, Mo., formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Sells Rest Home in Matthews.

He was born Jan. 6, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, to the late Leonard B. "Bill" and Mamie Heise Christy. He and Barbara Gamon were married Aug. 30, 1975. She preceded him in death Feb. 8, 1981.

Earl was a graduate of Jackson High School. He was a lifelong farmer in Cape Girardeau County and worked at Superior Electric. He was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church.

He served in the National Guard.

Survivors include a son, Charles (Theresa) Emmons of Gladstone, Mo.; two grandchildren, Charles and Alexia Emmons of Gladstone; numerous cousins; and family friends, Clara and Gene Phillips of Cape Girardeau.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tony Kobak officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
