Edward Luther Sample, 88, of Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, died Monday, Oct. 2, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born Nov. 30, 1906, at Patton, son of Edward G. and Clara Dolle Sample. Sample lived in St. Louis 45 years. He was employed at Valley Farm Dairy Co., retiring in 1971. He was a member of Tyler Place Presbyterian Church in St. Louis. Sample served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was awarded four Bronze Stars...

Edward Luther Sample, 88, of Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, died Monday, Oct. 2, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 30, 1906, at Patton, son of Edward G. and Clara Dolle Sample.

Sample lived in St. Louis 45 years. He was employed at Valley Farm Dairy Co., retiring in 1971. He was a member of Tyler Place Presbyterian Church in St. Louis. Sample served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was awarded four Bronze Stars.

Survivors include cousins.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today. A prayer service will be conducted at 7 by the Rev. Robert Henrich.

Visitation will also be held at Kriegshauser Funeral Home South in St. Louis from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Kriegshauser, with the Rev. Mike Wakeland officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. Louis.
